We put architecture on the fast track. If you can design it in CAD, our installation teams can make it real.
That’s the beauty of a design/build practice like ours. Under the direction of our founder, Bob Jackson, we design it, install it, and maintain it – offering newly graduated designers a unique professional experience with an award-winning creative team. You’ll work "up close and personal" with our clients to develop highly customized solutions for challenging residential assignments.
Above all else, we value the process of designing for residential clients. When planning a new home or renovation, each party in the exchange contributes an essential ingredient to the landscape program – the client articulating a vision for the outdoor environment; the architect and interior designer often expanding home concepts to suggest landscape design approaches. (Indeed, as the renowned landscape gardener Russell Page recognized, the site itself must be allowed to "tell its own story.") Lastly, it is our role to meld these into a "unity" of function, style, and live-ability that closely fits the client and the property.
The result of this collaboration is the creation of a landscape master plan, a document that memorializes the aspirations of both client and designer in tangible form. Preparation of the plan brings a structure and focus to the design process that we heartily advocate. It addresses both long- and short-term goals while satisfying all the practical aspects of the project by providing plant and material specifications, budgets, and schedules for each phase of work.
At BJL, Inc. landscape designers coordinate many parts of this design/build process. He or she is responsible for both achieving the highest degree of creativity and keeping within the limits of allowable budget. Designers must possess skills that enable them to follow a designated path to final design; technical knowledge of plant material and hardscape construction; and excellent hand-drawn graphic abilities.
